Artist Statement

As a triangle site, Capitol Park is meeting point for people who wish to see each other. The project will create a spatial environment in Capitol Park that allows communities to engage with each other. Shared urban spaces are important cultural areas of our cities and require design which is attractive, functional, and allows for multi-use. ‘Cubesphere’ is a interaction stage that will be used for gathering, entertainment, resting, and play their own roles. The idea and concept manifested within this project is based on the emphasis of interaction from eye contact and user movement. People can pull and move the part of the geometries by themselves. The geometries consist with few materials for different interpretation of earth, water, harvest and sunset for celebrating the harvest and festival of Sukkot. The central hidden sphere shows the welcoming for everyone and triggers people to interact in the space.
