The Price of Protest: The Commercialization of Color and the NFL

Join us in examining the contemporary issues surrounding the NFL protest using constitutional, corporate and critical race frameworks.

Shanthi Elizabeth Senthe is an Assistant Professor at Windsor Law. Professor Senthe brings a wealth of knowledge to her classroom, particularly to our Dual JD students at the University of Detroit Mercy Faculty of Law, as she has practiced law on both sides of the US and Canadian border. Prior to joining Windsor Law, Shanthi was an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia. She taught Business Associations, Secured Transactions, Corporate Governance and Remedies.

Shanthi’s research interests include corporate, commercial, banking and finance law, critical race theory and sports law. Her empirical sites of research include Sri Lanka, Myanmar and corporate spaces and places. Shanthi is in the final stages of her PhD at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University and she is researching on banking and finance regulation and governance within a post-war context.

She completed a merit-based judicial externship at the Florida Supreme Court, and a judicial clerkship at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Her professional experiences include banking and corporate-commercial litigation. Shanthi is admitted to practice law in Ontario, Florida, North Carolina and the District of Columbia. She is also currently leading a research study involving Black commercialization and financialization in the Detroit area.
